Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 20, 2026

At FeedForward, we believe that providing powerful AI tools for educators should never come at the expense of student privacy. This Privacy Policy is designed to be transparent and factual about how our Chrome Extension functions, what data is accessed, and how it is securely protected.

1. Data We Access

FeedForward operates with the principle of least privilege. We only access the text content of your Google Docs when you explicitly click the "Analyze Document" button within the extension. We do not monitor your browser history, and we do not read your documents passively in the background.

2. How Your Data is Processed

When you trigger an analysis, the text of your document and your selected rubric/criteria are securely transmitted to provide actionable feedback:

  • Secure Backend Processing: Your requests are routed securely through our custom AWS architecture. This protects our API keys and ensures connection integrity without directly exposing your data to third parties unprotected.
  • OpenAI Integration: We utilize OpenAI's API to analyze the document text and generate the feedback recommendations based on your rubric.
  • No AI Model Training: In accordance with OpenAI's API usage policies, the document text and data we submit via the API are never used to train OpenAI's models. The data is only used temporarily to generate the requested feedback and is not permanently retained by OpenAI.

3. Local Storage and Session Data

We respect your ownership of custom materials. Custom rubrics you upload and configurations you set (e.g. preferred educational standards like Common Core or Ontario) are stored securely in your browser's local Session Storage. These persist locally so you can seamlessly navigate between documents across different tabs within an active browser session, but they are not permanently uploaded to or stored on FeedForward's corporate servers.

4. Data Sharing and Sales

We absolutely do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information, document text, rubrics, or student data to any third-party advertisers or data brokers under any circumstances.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard encryption protocols (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit between your browser, our AWS infrastructure, and OpenAI to ensure that your student data remains confidential and secure from interception at all times.

6. Your Consent

By using the FeedForward Chrome Extension, you consent to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please uninstall or do not use the extension.

7. Contact Us

If you have any questions or concerns regarding our privacy practices or the technical functionality of the extension, please reach out directly to us at support@feed-forward.ca.
